Accra, Ghana – A 96 years old member of the Dansoman Central Assembly of the Church of Pentecost Congregation on Saturday, 3rd August 2019 amazed his church members with his wedding to his longtime girlfriend who he has been dating for over 50 years.
The two nonagenarians, James K. Andorful, 96, and Margaret Manuel, 93, have produced nine children out of the over 50 years relationship.
The Dansoman District Pastor of the Church of Pentecost, Rev. James Oko Barnor was the man of God whose presence they took their marital vows. The man of God went on to preach on the topic “unless they understand each other” quoting from Amos 3:3 of the Holy Bible he read: “If two couples can live under one roof for 50 years in a relationship, it means they understood each other.”
He also talked about the increase in the divorce rate in Ghana and a phenomenon he blamed largely due to the discontentment of couples. He added that marriages in times past survived because couples were content with the little things they had and understood each other.
He further on advised the youth to desist from comparing their marriages to that of others and appreciate the spouses as they are God’s blessing to them.
