“Any Artiste Making Hits Off Drill Owes Me 20% On Any Song”-Medikal Claims

Ghanaian rapper, Samuel Adu Frimpong, well known as Medikal has claimed ownership over Ghanaian drill music, saying any musician making hits from Drill music owes him a percentage on any song they record.

Drill music is a style of trap music defined by its dark, violent, and nihilistic lyrical content and ominous trap-influenced beats.

Drill gained popularity in the United States in mid-2012, thanks to the success of rappers and producers such as Young Chop, Chief Keef, Lil Durk, King Louie, DomBoy2k, Fredo Santana, and Lil Reese, who all had large local followings and a strong online presence.

In Ghana, musicians who emerged from Kumasi now known as Kumerica are mostly known to do Drill music. The likes of Yaw Tog, Asakaa Boys, Kwaku Darlington, YPee, Black Sherif have all ventured into Drill music.

Well, Medikal is now claiming ownership over the genre, saying any musician who is making hits off the Drill music genre owes him 20% of whatever they make on any song.

Taking to his Twitter, he wrote; Any artiste making hits off Drill owes me 20 percent on any song, I birth this.

In other news, Ghanaian actor, Sylvester Agyapong, well known as Sly has lamented the fact that the President of Ghana, H.E Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo Addo has disappointed Ghanaians with his ill-governance.

According to him, the majority of Ghanaians have regretted ever throwing their weights behind the NPP government because people are complaining about his incompetency and ill-administration.

Speaking in an interview with Zionfelix on the Uncut show, Sly indicated that most Ghanaians are not in support of the digitalized taxation called e-levy because the government has not provided jobs for Ghanaians to tax them.
