The deceased, Anthony Apurum, a 48-year-old man was said to have lost his life due to an attack from Veronica Djoazaa who hit him with a crate during a misunderstanding at her drinking bar.

The prosecutor in the case, Chief Inspector Kofi Aggrey told the Ashaiman District Court that the incident happened on Saturday, 2nd October around 7:30 pm.

According to him, the deceased proceeded to the suspect’s neighboring drinking establishment to purchase a bottle of alcoholic beverage. A misunderstanding occurred between him and the suspect while the deceased was drinking his beverage, during which she picked up an empty drink crate and tossed it at the deceased.

The empty bottles crate collided with the deceased’s skull, injuring him severely and causing him to bleed profusely. When the deceased realized the severity of his condition, he submitted a formal report to the Zenu Atadeka Police Department, where he was given a Police Medical Form to be treated. He was treated and discharged in a short while.

However, on the 12th of October 2021, his condition deteriorated, and he was brought to the Tema General Hospital, where he was treated for treatment but died while there.

The cause of death was determined to be blunt head trauma, cerebral oedema with tonsillar herniation by a hospital post-mortem, which the pathologist regarded as unnatural death.

Madam Veronica was arrested and sent to court, but she was remanded when her bail request was denied. She will be reappearing in court on the 26th of October.
