The 20th Edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards was temporarily halted due to a clash between the two rivalry artistes; Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy. The chaos caused by these two led to the suspension of two awards category; Artiste of The Year and Popular Song of The Year categories.
The organizers of the awards event, Charter House have announced today their decision to sanction the two dancehall artistes in a press conference today. They have banned them indefinitely from participating in anything related to the awards scheme; performances, nomination, selection or honor. They have also annulled the awards 2 awards that were suspended on the awards night since each of they won in one of the two categories.
This means that the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2019 has no winner for Artiste of the year and Popular song of the year and anyone who won the previous year is still “the artiste of the year”. This means that the Late Ebony Reigns is still the ruling artiste of the year.
The late Ebony Reigns was a young and talented dancehall/Afropop artiste who was signed under RuffTown records and manager by Bullet. Her demise was as a result of a gory accident which occurred on the Kumasi-Kintampo road on the 8th of February, 2018.
Ebony Reigns was the first demised artiste and the first female to win the prestigious Artiste of The Year Award. She is now also the first artiste to hold the Artiste of The Year title for more than one year. Isn’t that interesting and fascinating?
