After a marvelous performance with legendary highlife musician Abrantie Amakye Dede, Kuami Eugene was about leaving the stage when Amakye Dede called him to come back to the stage.
He said he never had hope that Highlife music would survive after they have left the music but now he has seen how revived the genre is thank to young and talented Kuami Eugene whom he has worked with on countless occasions both in and outside of the country.
He then placed a golden-like crown on Kuami Eugene’s head saying he’s the redeemer of modern day highlife and that he should keep up with the good works he’s been doing.
This year and previous years, the now winner of the producer of the year award, has been releasing hit songs back to back. He finally released his debut album last year with won him an award this year. As the saying goes ‘”Hard work pays” and it really did pay Kuami Eugene with a couple of awards.
Many fans were of the hope that Kuami Eugene has really worked hard under the year of review and deserves the Artiste of The Year Award at this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards. It was now left with Charterhouse, the organizers of the annual music awards event to announce the winner but it didn’t happen.
Awards for two categories viz, Popular Song of the Year and Artiste of Year were withheld due to the confusion that went on between Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale over the Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year Award.
