Police Confirm The Arrest Of Six Armed Robbers Who Engage The Police In A Gun Battle

According to the police, six suspected armed robbers have been arrested in the Western Region.

These robbers were arrested by policemen attached to the Mpohor District Police command after they robbed some scrap dealers.

The incident reportedly happened on Saturday, January 8, 2022, and this happened when the scrap dealers Haruna Dayan and Abdul Rauf were going about in search of scraps to buy at Mpohor Town.

As they went about their business, they were attacked by eight men armed with locally made pistols and cutlasses.

These robbers reportedly attacked the scrap dealer while aboard an Opel Taxi Cab with registration number WR 3186-14.

During the confrontations, one of the robbers cut the pockets of their victims and made away with 1,200 cedis.

The report, according to the Starr FM Online, indicated that the victim went to the Mpohor Police station to report the incident, and immediately a team of Police was sent after the robbers to trace the whereabouts of the victims.

During the search, some youth alerted the police that they had apprehended four of the suspects while one other suspect was on the run.

The suspect who was on the run was 33-year-old Philemon Essien, and the report stated that he was armed with a locally manufactured pistol.

As the police continued their search, they chanced upon Philemon Essien who was hiding and upon sensing danger, he opened and exchanged fire with the Police where he sustained gunshot wounds in his left hand.
