Aced Gospel Musician and Minister Sonnie Badu have finally spoken about the brawl that occurred at the 20th Edition of The Vodafone Ghana Music Awards. – “Unite The Youth And Lift Up The Flag of Ghana” – Sonnie Badu to Stonebwoy & Shatta Wale
He first addressed the issue in a Facebook live video saying he didn’t want to get involved at the first place but he knows his fans and followers might be asking to know what was happening in his homeland Ghana the reason he is adding his voice to explain.
All that he is saying is for these two great dancehall artistes and rivals to come together to life the name of the nation across the borders and uniting the youth with their works as he refers to Davido and Wizkids issues that also happened some time ago and how it was resolved.

After the brawl at the VGMA 2019, the two dancehall acts share these facts in common.
Firstly both Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy have been banned by Charter House from participating in any activities of the awards scheme.
They have also been arrested, detained and granted a GH¢50,000 bail each which sum to the tune of GH¢100,000.
Both Shatta Movent and Bhim Nation fans are angry with organizers of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards for the sanctions pronounced on their artiste.
Samini in an interview on Hitz FM with Andy Dosty had said that Stonebwoy was not a violent person but very streetwise. He went on to reveal that his mother raised Stonebwoy and he knows him very well. He then pleaded with the general public to forgive him (Stonebwoy) for not being able to comport himself when the incident occurred. Shatta Wale has provoked him for long, he added.
He mentioned that he has had his beef with Shatta Wale before and would therefore not blame Stonebwoy for the way he reacted last Saturday night. The should have not been in the auditorium at the first place, he categorically stated.
According to Samini, from his experience, he knows Shatta Wale wants to create a little bit of drama on the night of the VGMA and didn’t mean to ruin the show. He also suggested that his godson the two rivalry artiste should record a unity song together and that he’s ever ready to provide them with a beautiful chorus.
The recent happening at the just ended VGMA 2019saw fans of the two rivalry dancehall artistes also exchanging vulgar words in their attempt to defend the beloved artiste. After the event, fans of the two dancehall artistes took to social to banter as to who was wrong and who was right. This saw many of them giving death threats, insults and using different vulgar words to attack their rivals.
On Thursday, the 23rd of May 2019, the organizers of the annual awards event, Charter House, spelled out their decision to sanction the two artistes for their misbehavior at the just ended Vodafone Ghana Music Awards which has brought disrepute to the event. The pronounced an indefinite ban for the two artistes and also annulled the awards for the two suspended categories they each won.
After the ban and nullification of their award, fans of both artiste turned their anger towards the organizers of the yearly awards event. For the first time, both Bhim Naton fans and Shatta Movement came together to fight against a common cause.
A Bhim Nation fan only known as Um Khing has said in a post on facebook that it is unnecessary for they the fans of both artistes to kill themselves over the music. He further on stated that Bhim Nation fans loves all SM fan and that was his call for unity.

This is good a sign of a developing reunion between the fans of the two rivalry dancehall artiste. Since their fans are preaching love and embracing peace we hope that in the near future these two artiste will reconcile and maybe release a song together.

There was a chaos at the 20th Anniversary of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2019 when Stonebwoy was announced the winner of “The Dancehall Artste of The Year” category. Shatta Wale went on stage uninvited as Stonebwoy received his plaque and was about to deliver his thank you note.
This event had led to the arrest of the two dancehall artiste a day after the event. They have been granted a 5bail of 50,000 Ghana Cedis each and have appeared in court pleading not guilty to their charges. They will re-appear in court again soon hear their final judgment by the magistrate.

The 20th Edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards was temporarily halted due to a clash between the two rivalry artistes; Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy. The chaos caused by these two led to the suspension of two awards category; Artiste of The Year and Popular Song of The Year categories.
The organizers of the awards event, Charter House have announced today their decision to sanction the two dancehall artistes in a press conference today. They have banned them indefinitely from participating in anything related to the awards scheme; performances, nomination, selection or honor. They have also annulled the awards 2 awards that were suspended on the awards night since each of they won in one of the two categories.
This means that the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2019 has no winner for Artiste of the year and Popular song of the year and anyone who won the previous year is still “the artiste of the year”. This means that the Late Ebony Reigns is still the ruling artiste of the year.
The late Ebony Reigns was a young and talented dancehall/Afropop artiste who was signed under RuffTown records and manager by Bullet. Her demise was as a result of a gory accident which occurred on the Kumasi-Kintampo road on the 8th of February, 2018.
Ebony Reigns was the first demised artiste and the first female to win the prestigious Artiste of The Year Award. She is now also the first artiste to hold the Artiste of The Year title for more than one year. Isn’t that interesting and fascinating?

According to Charter House, this sanction means they won’t be able to participate in any event by the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards; be it nominations, performances, selections or honors.
These decisions were taken on today, Thursday 23rd day of May, at a press conference held by the board of members for the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards scheme following the chaos that happened between Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy on last Saturday at the just ended 20th Anniversary of the VGMAs in Accra.
According to Mr Nat Brew, a board member, the actions of the two dancehall aristes on the awards night have brought the name of the event to disrepute. He mentioned that their decision to sanction the two artistes was made after “careful deliberations” and “extensive consultation” with stakeholders in the music industry.
Not too long after these announcements were made, Shatta Wale took to the social media platform, Facebook, to reveal he has pulled out of the awards scheme going forward.
Even though their lawyers had argued for a self-recognizance bail on grounds that the two accused persons were known figures in the music industry and would avail themselves for the trial, magistrate Isaac Addo rejected their request of self-recognizance bail and had set their bail condition at 50,000 cedis each with one surety.
Both stars are charged with issuing threats and using abusive words with the intent to disturb public peace, with Stonebwoy facing count of displaying weapon in public place without permission. The gun is an Australian gun INFK 158 with butt number AA792002017.
The two dancehall artistes have both pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The magistrate asked that the accused persons be of good behaviour in the course of the trial. He also warned the two rivalry acts against any acts that could impede the progress of the case. They are expected in court again on June 20.
