Zamfara Abduction: Atiku Advises Buhari Govt On Insecurity
Former Vice-President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has taken a swipe at the string of kidnappings that have arose with the abduction of students of Government secondary schools in Kaya, Zamfara State.
Recall that gunmen suspected to be bandits on Wednesday attacked a Secondary School in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State and abducted 73 students.
Reacting to the news of the kidnapping, Atiku opined that preemptive actions like having school protection standby unit deployed to protect schools in areas prone to these attacks.
He wrote: ”I am saddened by reports of yet another abduction of students in Zamfara. For a region that’s playing catch-up in the critical area of education, this continued assault on the bedrock of our development is not acceptable.
”Perhaps the time has come to have a School Protection Standby Unit deployed exclusively to protect schools in areas prone to these attacks. If we don’t take preemptive actions, I fear that education in the already disadvantaged regions may suffer irreversible losses.
”Meanwhile, I hope that no effort will be spared for a speedy recovery of the students.”
@TMbanche: School protection standby unit is good but it will be not be sustainable in the long run. How many schools can they covered and how well can they do it? The first line of defence is intelligence and deterant not abrupt force. These problems are more socio-economic/cultural..
@TMbanche: So many crimes are planned days, some even weeks in advance what if you could stop those crime at the planning stage rather than execution, that’s how good leadership works…
@charles2infinit: But sir if NDA can be attacked na where this bandit’s no fit attack for this country… Tired of this country jor just yesterday a female friend said she was attacked which kind life be this.
@olukaye: Bros this solution is not what you need. The federal government and the NASS have failed. Allow each State to have their own armed security outfits. Then where is the LAW? The laws are not biting hence impunity reigns. Arrest, prosecute and santion is the name of the game.
@FatimaA58116458: I had hoped to hear u engage the govt if they are still living in denial to proffer meaningful solutions to this menace. At this point in time nothing else should matter other than security but i wonder y this is been treated with kid gloves
