In other news, Ghanaian rapper, Samuel Adu Frimpong, well known as Medikal has claimed ownership over Ghanaian drill music, saying any musician making hits from Drill music owes him a percentage on any song they record.

Drill music is a style of trap music defined by its dark, violent, and nihilistic lyrical content and ominous trap-influenced beats.

Drill gained popularity in the United States in mid-2012, thanks to the success of rappers and producers such as Young Chop, Chief Keef, Lil Durk, King Louie, DomBoy2k, Fredo Santana, and Lil Reese, who all had large local followings and a strong online presence.
