On Wednesday, the 17th of April, two huge snakes were found at the office of Liberian president, George Weah, causing panic and fear at the presidency. President George Weah of Liberia Abandons Office After Being Occupied by Snakes
The Liberian head of state, President George Weah, and workers at his office were forced to vacate the office. They now work from their various homes as they await the building’s fumigation to get rid of the reptiles.
According to BBC, Press Secretary Smith Toby said these crawling animals were found in the Foreign Affairs Ministry building, where you can find the president’s office.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosts the office of the president, so it did an internal memo asking the staff to stay home while they do the fumigation,” Toby said.
“The snakes were never killed. There was a little hole somewhere [through which] they made their way back,” He added.
According to Toby, the incident is as a result of lack of maintenance of the buildings that were built a long time ago.
In this current situation, security has been tightened at the president’s residence in Monrovia, Liberia’s capital, with fleets of escort vehicles and security personnel.
