‘Stop The Killings In The South East & Embrace Dialogue’ – Actor, Jim Iyke To Nigerian Youth
Renowned Nollywood actor, Jim Iyke, has advised Nigerian youths in the south Eastern region of the country to desist from all forms of violence and embrace peace.
He made this known during a submission at an event in Owerri, Imo State, on October 24 where he said that the explosives being thrown in the region were really affecting the economy of the region as no one will like to work and invest there.
In his view, there should be some sort of dialogue between the government and everyone who feels aggrieved and he believes this is the sure way to settle their differences.
He also used the opportunity to charge the youth to amplify their voices using appropriate ways instead of taking to weapons.
He indicated that Igbo is the most disenfranchised in Nigeria adding that Igbo leaders should work and do well to prevent bad governance in the region.
In his submission, he said;
“Nobody condones bad things. Discussion is still the way forward. We can amplify our voices in so many ways instead of killing ourselves. Don’t forget this destruction is not outside of Igboland it is inside our land. We are killing ourselves by ourselves. A house fighting itself in the same house will only collapse.”
