We will eliminate Hearts from the Champions League – CI Kamsar’s Amos Frimpong
Ghana Premier League champions Accra Hearts of Oak will face Guinean side Club Industriel de Kamsar in the preliminary stage of the CAF Champions League.
Former Asante Kotoko captain Amos Frimpong says his new side will eliminate Hearts of Oak when they meet in the preliminary stage of the CAF Champions League.
Amos Frimpong signed for the Guinea champions last week on a one year contract after a brief stint with Techiman Eleven Wonders in the 2020/2021 season.
Speaking in an interview with Kumasi based Oyerepa FM, the full back says he is excited to be facing Accra Hearts of Oak once more.
“CI Kamsar playing Hearts in the Champions League is a dream match for me. I had always wanted to play against them (Hearts) again.”
“My teammates have been asking me about Hearts of Oak and how good they are ahead of the game. I am sure we will defeat them in the first leg and then qualify ahead of them in Ghana during the return fixture.”
“Our club president has told us to do better than what Horoya FC is doing on the continent. Therefore, our main aim is that we want to win the CAF Champions League. I don’t see how Hearts of Oak will stop us even though I admit they are on form.”
“They have won Ghana Premier League and FA Cup and are on good momentum but that isn’t enough to eliminate is from the competition because we have a good team also,” he concluded
The draw for the first preliminary stage was conducted on Friday 13th August in the Egyptian capital of Cairo.
Hearts will first travel to Guinea for the first league tie which is scheduled to take place between 10-12 September 2021 in Conakry before the second leg in Accra on 17-19 September.
The phobians will meet a familiar face in the CI Kamsar team as former Asante Kotoko captain who played for Techiman Eleven Wonders in the just ended season, Amos Frimpong has sealed a move to the Guinean side.
Hearts of Oak last played in African inter club competition in 2015 where they were eliminated by Tunisian giants Esperance.
A daunting task awaits the winner of the tie between Hearts and Kamsar as they will face Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club in the first round in October.
The winner of the first round tie advances to the group stage of the competition which starts in February 2022.
